Of course your dentist will go through the exact details of your case, but here is a general overview of the typical process for getting dental implants.
Anesthesia
Your dentist will assess your medical history and you will decide together about the ideal anesthesia for your treatment. Anesthesia may range from mild sedation to complete sleep, depending upon your desires and needs and dentist’s recommendations.
Jawbone
After the anesthetics have taken effect, the dentist will access your jawbone to place the implant. A hole will be drilled for the implant, and a dental X-ray may be taken to ensure correct placement and depth of the hole. The titanium implant will then be surgically inserted into your jawbone, and your gum tissue will be stitched on top of the implant site.
Crown
Once the implant has been given time to heal, usually around seven days, a dental crown will be placed on top to complete the process. You will be ready for you to enjoy the benefits of your dental implant.
